Yannis Tsarouchis, Winds: Kaikiias and Zefyros, 1966

tantalus

I wade with tantalus

through pooling desire:

my fingertips graze

the velveteen skin of

bright and supple fruit

the dark wet cool rises

slowly past my thighs

the truth is that I only remember

the meals I didn't eat

the truth is that if I could

I'd drink the whole sky

I'd swallow the sun
